Hi guys your advice would be much appreciated. With 2 kids and a French Mastiff the time has come to sell my Golf tdi 150 and get an estate. Ive always been a vw man, but my dilema is which one of these is the one to go for?? They seem pretty similar, except for the price - the Audi seems to be about £500 to £1000 more!!
I'll may go for a little remap to make up for the extra weight and less power that im used to.
So if anybody with experience of one or both cars please let me know.

    Cheers

They are pretty similar, the Passat is based on the A6 platform (with some A4 bits thrown in ).

The Passat's the best car I've ever owned, so much so I've had 2 of them and will probably get a 3rd next time. Both have gone to over 200k (1 petrol and 1 diesel) without any major issues, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend one, with the obvious caveats regarding any used car.
Nothing to see here, move along..

Thanks for the reply. Would you go for the highline or the sport model?

Depends what you are after. IIRC, the highline is more of a comfort orientated model, and the sport has (obviously) sport suspension.

Have a look on Parkers to see what kit each has.

Just my opinion, But I think the A6 interior styling is nicer.

See if you can pm forum member BigCol - he has owned both of those models recently. Or even do a forum search, as I'm sure he made comments about the differences on a post when he first got an A6.

    Hello,

We own both the Passat TDI 1.9 130 SE and I'm in the throws of buying an A6 TDI 1.9 TDI Sport Estate.

Our Passat has been great apart from the good old puddle in the driver side rear footwell (common design fault).

My wife drives it mainly however I would recommend either the Passat or Audi but I would go for a Sport over an SE or Highline as we've nicked name our Passat the Barge, due to the water feature and its body roll, the SE and Highline are for comfort over speed so I'd highly recommend the Sport.

A second point, if you go Passat go for a 04> as its the facelift and you get the indicators in the mirrors etc.

    Thanks
    Dan
