    All,

I reported a problem to Dension that when selecting by album, compilations appear multiple times because they have different artists. Dension claim this to be 'normal' - what do you guys think?

Do you think that an album list really should be that? Should it really be dividing albums where an album has multiple artists? Or still treated a single album?

Disappointing response, up until now very impressed with the GW500.

I have a gateway 100 and don't have this issue.
On iTunes try adding an "Album Artist" to the compilation (NOT ARTIST keep that what it should be)... For example if you have Now 70 put that as the album artist.

That sounds perfectly normal to me, it's more about how the albums have been tagged than a problem with the Dension unit.

How do you figure that normal? If you have a compilation album where every track is by a different artist, the album appears that many times in the list!

Doesn't this mean you can't browse by artist properly then? This is when using the USB storage and not an iPod.

I think this is more like an iTunes / iPod issue rather than the way the Dension works

I've just gone through and applied album artist to all the problem albums and will be trying it out today. I still think an album criteria should only be using the album id3 tag and ignoring the others (that is the approach I did in an app I created for generating genre based playlists for the dension )

    Still didn't work as expected.

With the album Curtain Call, 14 of the tracks are by Eminem, 1 is by Eminem and Dr. DRE and the last one is Eminem and Nate Dogg. The album name is the same for all, and the album artist is set to Eminem for all the tracks - yet it still appears as multiple albums on the Dension (to reiterate, this is when using a USB memory stick and not an iPod)

Yep you'r right this is quite normal mine does this too... other iPod devices will do the same as it's an Apple thing.

Only think I can suggest is chaging the artist again... IE instead of having Eminem feat Dr Dre just change it to Eminem? I know I would not take this route myself. Threre must be a way you can do it in iTunes, prehaps with using commas in the Artist field... My mate is a iTunes wizz I'll ask him next time I see him and see if he knows.
