Hi, Am new to the site and just taken ownership of a 2004 A4 1.8T Sline Avant which has currently got RS6 5 spoke 19" wheels on...

Conundrum is that the front tyres are shot to bits and the rears have flat spots so really also need replacing. The tyres are also not wide enough to cover the rim as presumeably they would rub on the car (Well i know this to be the case as the chap i bought the car off told me so).

In a nutshell, i will probably buy a new set of wheels / tyres as a package from wheelbase, wheelworx or similar but does anyone know what size i should get with normal tyres that at least stick out as far as the rim?

Will probably stick with the same style and not overly worried about size though 18" is probably favourable.

Or if anyone with an A4 that has popped the same wheels on with experience of sizes etc can help that would be great!

    Thanks in advance.
    Toby

On an 18" wheel the tyre size should be 235x40x18 on an 8" wide wheel.

cheers for that, I am just trying to avoid getting some new wheels and having hassle with 'offset' being wrong, rubbing etc...

Have you got a set of these on your car?

    Cheers,
    Toby

It sounds as thought the 19" rims you have at present are replica's so the offset is probably lower than Audi OEM and the tyres sound a lot narrower than OEM as well.

I've had a few A4's and my wifes last s-line came new with the 5 spoke RS6 style wheels fitted with Pirelli p-zero tyres in 235x40x18.

    Wheels update as follows:

I ordered a set of RS6 replica's from Wheelbase with 235/40/18 tyres on for £485 all in, stuck em on last night, looks fine but certainly not as good as the 19's, the finish on the 19's is a slighty darker shade of silver and looked more original and expensive.

In all, they fit very well, tyres cover the rims and it is totally different to drive!

The 19" rims made it very twitchy and the suspension was VERY harsh given that it had 35 profile tyres stretched over 19" rims..., it also felt that they stuck out too far for the steering to cope with.

All in all it was going to be a trade off from bad a$$ big wheels to marginally more sensible but very enhanced driving quality.

Will prob sell the 19's on fleabay, starting to wonder if they were actually originals as the Supplying dealer said they were, they have a black finish on the inside and proper Audi Centre caps.... May have to investigate that further.

    Cheers,
    Toby
