    Hello people,

Just a quick question are "Denso" glow plugs any good for my 1.9 tdi pd 130 A4 (AWX engine code)?

I'm looking into changing mine and I have come across these a Euro car bits, they are resonably priced and are of O.E spec.

    Cheers,

    Dan

I would make sure you can get them out first!

Went to change mine on a 2002 AWX and the first one wouldn't come out. It started to feel like it was going to shear so i stopped.

Still works, replaced the other three no probs. Think they are a 10mm socket, but you'll need a long reach socket. Probably better off with 1/2" drive set.

I replaced mine to get rid of smokey start ups, didn't make a bit of difference. I think it's to with the oily crud making it's way down the inlet manifold over night.

    Hello guys,

I collected the glow plugs on Saturday, however I have not had time to fit them yet. I spent part of Saturday arvo changing the front discs and pads instead (some to**er had bridged the pad wear sensors and my pads were slimmer that Posh spice).

Fingers crossed the glow plugs should come out in one piece (the head was replaced at the end of last summer).

I'll let everyone know how I get on.

    Cheers

    Dan

As said before, be sure you have the right tools first, I found plug 2 or 3 (can't remember which) near impossible to get to cleanly, so I left it!

Also note that the plugs need to be changed when the engine is WARM!

Starting from the front, 1 and 2 are easy, 3 is a bit tougher and 4 is hard because it's behind the fuel filter.

You'll need a 1/4" ratchet with an extension arm and a long 10mm socket. Long nose pliers are also good to have around and some WD40 to put on the threads of the new plugs.
