Has anyone else found a "whirring" noise noise coming from the climate control unit after switiching the engine off . It sounds almost like a small fan running. It continues even after removing the key from the ignition, and after locking/reopening the car. Sitting in the car yesterday, engine off after a run, it ran for over 30 minutes and still didnt stop.

Has anyone else suffered from this?

Is it likelty to be a fault as it is quite intrusive when sitting with the ignition off.

I have noticed it, but I'm not sure how long it runs on for after the engine is stopped. I will check and see.

I know in some other makes CC works by having a small fan draw in air from the car over a temperature sensor inside the unit, so I assume the Golf is the same. Can't see any reason why it would need to run on though.

I keep my car in a garage, and have been in there at the front of the car after I have switched off the engine and there is something running for about 5 mins. I have not looked inside the bonnet to see what it is, but if it is a fan it is very small, definitely not one of the main cooling fans.
I will one day lift the lid and see if I can locate it, but it is so quiet I can not hear it inside the car, just a very soft whirring
