few days ago i left the ignition on all night in fact it must have been on for over 24 hours
when i realised went out to the car no dash lights on dead as a dodo.
recharged the battery and it started as normal,
turned it off to finish putting the other bits back together.
went to restart it and it just cuts out starts for a moment and then dies.
there's only a partial display showing on the mileage read out and computer display to.

If you have a spare key try it,there is a fault with the immobilizer but it sounds like something has happened with the dash insert

Sounds like immobiliser has lost synch with key. Disconnect battery and try again. If no joy, you will probably need a code read.

Air bag is a "hard" fault which won't erase without a code reset. Did you disturb any wires.

The airbag control light (fault) will probably have been activated by a low battery

Whoa ! what was that about drying out passenger carpet, where did that come from ?

I guess you have read about pollen filter blockage -> water ingress in passenger footwell -> water damage to CCU -> = electrical faults ?

I did have a problem with my fuel pump relay # 372 (p/n 4D0 951 253) which caused my engine to start then die. Once replaced it worked fine.
