    Hi
I want change the front pads on my 2003 1.9 TDI 130 Passat I have changed pads before on previous vehicles but this seems much more complicated I think due to the ventilated disc can anybody talk me through the process or direct me to a site where I can obtain some advice on installation

    Many Thanks Rob

It's very straightforward, pretty much the same as any other ordinary front discs.
Make sure you get the correct pads as there are several variations, and remember how the wear sensor wire is routed as it may not be obvious upon reassembly.
Use Loctite thread-lock on the bolts if not replacing them.
Pads usually have a self-adhesive coating and the packing paper needs to be peeled before fitting them, some don't come with this so use squeak-stop to stop the breaks squealing.

Be gentle when retracting the caliper piston. I use a large G clamp and go very slowly. I also take the lid off the master cylinder reservoir. This all helps screwing up the abs unit and master cylinder seals. You can also crack open the bleed screw a little and slowly push in the piston and top up mastercylinder when done.

You've probably done this by now
