    Dear All

I have noticed on some of the Audi fora that there seems to be a question mark as to the usefulness of having a 2.7 tdi in the range as well as the 3.0.
I have the 2.7 and have been amazed at the mpg that I have obtained from it. On a run yesterday to Manchester, a trip of some 128 miles I averaged 44mpg, keeping to the speed limit on motorways and driving in very heavy traffic in Manchester city centre.
On the return journey in sport mode I still managed 39.7.
As far as acceleration goes, well there were plenty of 50mph restrictions on the M6 for which I set my cruise control. I only accelerated out of them at the derestriction point whereas other more impatient drivers who started to accelerate and move out to the other lanes earlier were, I'm afraid, left in a wake of diesel fumes. I don't need any more acceleration than that.
I have the tiptronic gearbox and I love it. Manual gears are so boring. I have more ways to change gear that GOKWAN and I love trying out different methods, for example, although I have ABS I used the paddle shifts to slow down during the recent bad weather.
I noticed that, next to my username, it says stalled. Well I have an automatic so how can I have stalled, ha ha.
Perhaps this post will restart this engine.
What about you 3.0 owners. I'm sure that you can match my acceleration but can you match my mpg figures?

    daycartes

Best I've seen is 42mpg on a long run; I always use v-power which might help the result. I probably also travel a little more quickly than you which might have an affect the other way.....

Mine's a manual, so not a fair comparison really. But on a regular South London to Exeter run - 180 miles, I get 39 to 41 mpg, not hanging around. I take the A303 route with fast overtakes and generally 'enjoy' the drive
April 2009: Bought Audi A6 3.0 TDi Quattro in Stratos Blue, Saloon, Manual Box, Heated Blue Leather, Cruise, 55 plate, 33k miles.
April 2014: just run in at 80k miles, private plate, rattle from the CD player
