What are your thoughts on the current F1 season?

I think its got all the ingrediants of becoming a similar season to 1986 when Prost Mansell and Piquet all went to Australia with a chance of the championship!

Sorry mate... F1.. no thanks... i would not even go watch it if it was free...

The problem i have with it is that its now more of a business than a sport..... Im well into the WRC Rally (went to Swden this year) and enjoy the British Rally, Rallycross etc..

If i have to watch the F1.. it would have to be the first bend and last lap..

but.. each to their own taste..

I don't blame you to be honest, it is a business now just like football. I agree re WRC and I thing (dare I say it) the MotoGP and World Superbikes offer great value and entertainment

agreed...i watched formula one since i was very young..from about 1989..but i had also watched all my dad's old recordings of past years..i was a little addict...but then in about 2000 i lost interest completely...

Ive seen alot of formula one thinking about it..my fav era was probably late 70s...early 80s..the turbo years if i remember correctly..when the cars had side skirts as well which means they had straight line speeds around corners ...

Actually i remembering losts of moments..do you guys remember in 89?88? when senna went for prost at the first corner down the inside and took them both out!

Yes! The late 80s was the best. Any time I watch F1 now it's out of some kind of nostalgia for those days.

It was Japan 1990 - Senna did this because the pole position was "moved" to the inside of the track on the dirty line which therefore made pole position a dis-advantage. The current president of the F1/FIA was a very political man and did not like Ayrton very much, so this leaving Senna very angry, he said that should "anyone" arrive at the first corner before him he would go for it, regardless. Prost arrived there first (from the clean line 2nd place) and Senna kept his word, forgot to brake! and basically drove into him - at the time Senna said it was a racing accident but a year later admitted it was both intentional and a reply to bothe the 1989 clash (where again the president did not apply himself correctly to the incident between Senna and Prost) and for moving pole position in 1990.

Ayrton Senna - in my opinion - was the most complete driver of his time - Schumacher was good, and what he did for Ferrari was amazing, however he never had consistant challangers, Famgio was great - but he always moved teams and to the best cars, however give Senna a car and he always delivered something special - in 1993 he drove his McLaren Ford with a customer B-Spec engine to 3 famous victories early in the season, followed by another 2 later on - guess who had a works A Spec Ford Cosworth engine at the same time? Michael Schumacher, hummm

Excuse a few of my spellings above!! Fangio, not Famgio!!! Apologises

Also, rather than say that Senna was the best of his time, I'd rather say the best ever along with Jim Clark

At least you have F1 racing and consider it a sport!

Here in the US, it's either drag racing (any sod can drive a 1/4 mile in a straight line!), or this crap called NASCAR, with a bunch of rednecks driving something being passed off as a 'production' car, when it's really a tube frame with a sheet metal skin making it look like that car - no doors or such, climb in through the window opening.

Closest thing we have here to decent racing is the Indy 500, and a few Grand Prix races, but other than that, nothing worth a lolly!

should get even better next year with no traction control and slick tyres and at last, the removal of all those stupid max power looking stick on spoilers.

Classic comentry on the last race, saying Hamilton has lost the season now, lol, like theres only a couple of races left...... bring on the BBC.

Murphy, you do have Champ car and IRL which will get better now they have joined the 2 together. But I have to agree with you on the whole NASCAR thing, dont understand why so many people think its such a big thing, and its so primative, no technology, mechanical or electrical allowed.
