    Hi,

Just wondered if anybody could give me some advise regarding my Power steering.

For the past couple of weeks, when I drive around mini-roundabouts or turn close to full lock, the power steering belt seems to be slipping – there is a very slight slipping noise which develops in to a screech if the steering is turned full lock.

Are these belts adjustable in any way and if so where can the belt be located and how is the adjustment made?

Hope to hear from some of you.

    Thanks.

I dont think it's the belt....
My dad had a similar problem on a ford mondeo he had. he just topped up the fluid and it went away.

It's common for the power steering pump to squeal at full, some new cars do it..... its the pump fighting against itself.

    Worth a try...

    Nick

    Thanks for the reply Nick.

I've checked the fluid and the level is on max. There is a faint squeal/slip even at half lock around tight bends and it sounds just like the belt is a little loose. So I was hoping that there might be a tightening up option that I could try for an initial attempt.

Does anyone know if these belts can be tightened. Apparently the MK2 GTI belts can, but does the same go for the MK3's.
