Yeah i do...... but you'd have to do it on a lane by lane basis.....

    Maybe

    lane 1 - at least 50mph - (towing etc)
lane 2 - at least 65mph - (keep the wagons out)
    lane 3 - at least 75mph

All these again are subject to weather, temperature, amount of traffic on the road, etc...

a good idea in principle, but dont forget, lane 2 HAS to be used sometimes by trucks, for situations where a slip road is joining the m.way or when the m.way divides for different exits, trucks have to get in lane early to avoid any risk of late manouvers etc if you get me

Absolutely. Minimum speeds are in effect for a reason. If you don't desire or are unable to maintain a minimum speed stay off the road. Speed in of itself is not the problem, its speed differential.

Wooo, 50mph in lane 1 is a bit harsh and the whole thing impossible to govern. We would need to have the overhead board things constantly telling us what the new speed limit is now. Good principle, though and something really ought to be done about lane discipline (not sure if I can spell it - took a few goes).

My gut feeling is to be in favour of whacking it up. How do the german autobahn's fare? Are all the Germans so disciplined that they never crash into each other?
