Piezo Injector Failure, and subsequent detection and repair.

Hi all, my wife's just been recovered back home in our 2006 b7 audi a4 2.0 TDI. Car died travelling up the A30, luckily no-one hurt.
Plugged in the VAG-COM and I have the same fault codes as the original post. Guess I'll be ringing Truro Audi in the morning to get the injectors changed.

I'm going to try and disconnect the faulty injector so I can drive the car to the dealer. Is it possible to identify which injector has failed from the VCDS log?

I have a b7 170 q and has been running like a back of spanners for a while now and feels gutless. It had a new injector costing £1000 under warranty last year and today it cut out and back in the garage for a new set of injectors. They said they are to repair it as a good will gesture. Is this Likely to happen again? Or are the new injectors better? Not sure weather to sell it or not once it is repaired?

Hi Everyone,
My Audi A4 2.0TDI 170 S-Line SE 56 plate, died on the school run Wednesday morning. Fortunately, I was on a low speed side road when it happened. The Roadside assistance mechanic diagnosed it as a fuel supply problem. He called a local Indy garage who advised him that it was more likely an injector failure, that Audi were replacing them under goodwill.

I called Audi Dealer in Maidstone from the road side and mentioned the possible injector fault diagnosis and was advised by them that they were unaware of an injector problem on this model and would charge £144 diagnosis fee.

Based on Audi response I got the car recovered to my home and called Maidstone Audi again once I had run a VCDS fault report, which showed an injector fault and done some research on the net about the potential injector problem . But again they denied any knowledge of a ongoing problem and advised I contact Audi UK direct.

This I did and they immediately admitted the injector issue and promised to get them checked and replaced as long as I could get the car to an Audi centre.

This is the part where I am really annoyed with Maidstone Audi, as it would now cost me nearly £200 to get the car towed from my home to Audi Maidstone. Because most breakdown cover only allow for one single destination for a recovered vehicle and because I had chosen to get the car recovered to home, I was not entitled to get the car towed to Audi.

However, after phoning several breakdown companies and quoted roughly the same. I was advised by Audi assistance to contact the original recovery company GREENFLAG and ask if they could help.

To my relief and great thanks they agreed to collect the car and deliver it to Maidstone Audi for free and treat it as a continuation of my original roadside recovery! What a top company and thank you Green Flag!

Three days later I have the car back and all four injectors and wiring loom have been replaced free of charge by Audi UK.

Car runs smoother without flat spots it had before.
My advice if you have this model of Audi contact Audi UK direct and ask for them to be changed before someone has a serious accident.

The new injectors and wiring loom are of a modified type and should not give you a problem again. However, I have seen a website that reported two cases of the new injectors failing! Only time will tell if the new injectors are as good as Audi claim.

I do a lot of miles per year and am worried this will be a recurring problem too!

Thought I would share my experiences with Audi uk
I have a B7 2.0 170 which had no faults or running issues. I did not wish to be in a predicament of having injectors fail on me so approached Audi UK as others have done.
I was advised to book the car into the nearest Audi Centre and to have the injectors checked. Audi UK promising that they would be changed out FOC should the faulty ones be identified.
This I promptly arranged with my local Audi Centre and was told it would cost £105 + Vat should the checks prove that the injectors are not the faulty ones. I was prepared to stand this cost for peace of mind if anything else.
Car paid a visit into Audi where they identified faulty injectors and replaced all four complete with harness bolts etc, Injectors priced £120 each and invoiced Audi uk for £1200. Result!
