juddering TD130 Golf

i've noticed that my td 130 pd mk4 golf has started juddering. this happens when the engine is under load, ie accelerating. it becomes noticable in 3rd gear from 1900rpm through to 2800rpm when it will pull through 4,5,6 are the same.
any ideas anybody....

be more descriptive...is it the car juddering or the engine or the running gear/clutch gearbox........

if it isnt an egnine judder ie misfire id wait to see if it has logged a fault when worsens.....id suspect the flywheel as a possible cause if a mechanical fault!!!!!!!!

the juddering seems comming from the engine. it dose feel like a misfire but runs fine at a constant throttle within the affected rev range.
now done around 350 mls since first noticed, not getting any worse. but will come in every time you load up the engine in 3,4,5,6th gear

if its an engine misfire....check to see if there any electrical faults with a suitable vagcom. a common fault being injector problems. if no faults are registered then look at mechanical faults that wouldnt cause a log. ie fuel filter-has it been changed with service intervals? also does the flywheel have play is a common fault.
air mass meter is the first thjing you should try if it lack performance..so disconnect it and see if performance improves....if it negatively gets worse then air mass ok..if no change then possibly air mass meter fault.

i have a 99 golf tdi 90 bhp. When I am about to come to a stop, even if i put the car in neutral, the car makes a juddering noise as if it is about to stall, and then as i completely stop it goes quiet again. It is alright from 5th down to 2nd when slowing, and only does this when coming to a complete stop. I changed the mass airflow censor which seemed to improve the cars speed, but it seems to have gone slower since. Any ideas?. cheers

yes....iv read a report from VW that the pump timing out of synch causes this juddering when slowing down.
have you had a cambelt done? that has altered or effected ur timing?

i have a golf gt tdi 01 115pd engine and i have the same problem has the tinman! i've also had it checked out on vagcom and no faults came up, but then took it to a vw mechanic and he also thinks its the fly wheel.
im going to another vw specialist on tuesday to see what he thinks then i'll let you know

will be interested to find out what the second opinion is, another garage dos'nt seem to think it is the flywheel so i realy dont know. just come back in with another problem , could it be related.

forgot to mention, i was told by the vw mechanic that if it was the flywheel it would have the judder on stand still when the car is just ticking over but i dont?
