Know how you feel. I hit the kerb after a dog ran out on me after only having the car 5 days!!

But it was the 18" Vancouvers. Luckily the dealer gave me 25% off which brought it down to £318!! Ouch.

Have you tried asking your dealer where you bought the car from if they can do you any kind of deal as they can offer % off a brand new wheel.

The Vancouvers are £368 + VAT for one so be careful

I'm just waiting till the winter subsides a bit and will change the wheel / tyre over.

My dealer wouldn't give me anything off full MRP, but with scrappage, I did get approx 30% off the car, so he is probably trying to make back anything he can.

Luckily Jason at All German Parts was able to get me the wheel at a discount.

But still a painful lesson on snow driving, now that I know how expensive VW alloys are!

My close friend, last weekend put his 5 series BMW (fitted with runflats) in a very deep pothole (in the dark) in Surrey near Farnham. He found out a few days later that he'd buckled both nearside alloys. Strangely, though, if I remember correctly, his new alloy rims (as he called them) came to approx. £450, the pair, which seems cheap to me. He did not require any new tyres either.

    368 + VAT

You got to be joking that's such a rip off does it include a new tyre or is it just the alloy itself ?
still 368 + vat is crazy price

That was for the wheel alone. It is another £130 for the same Bridgestone tyre that was on the car.

Luckily the tyre appears to be ok although it has a chunk out of the side of it but it has lasted since the accident in October so I'm not changing the tyre now.

130 ouch just out of interest I have the 17 " seattle alloy wheels and one thing I like about them is that the actual alloy it self does not stick out, this means when parking near kerbs it is near impossible to scratch the alloy by parking to close to the kerb.

The alloy itself is very flat so there is minimal risk of kerbing the alloy, are the 18 " alloys fitted on your golf the same or do they stick out more ?

My last car has some aftermarket alloys on and they stuck out a lot which meant they got ketbed a lot, are the Vancouvers the same ?

The Vancouvers don't stick out particulary much.
The Bridgestone Potenza tyres has a ridge that should in theory stop the wheel rubbing against the kerb.
