guys just wanted your opinion on the paddle shifts you get with the car. any tips on using it? they dont seem to be proper paddle shifts as you can only change it when it is ready to change.

I have a 3.0tdi with tip and I find the paddles great; only time they won't change is if it will take the revs too high/low - which is expected.

The only issue I have with mine are that they are not quite in the right place. I would prefer them to be a little higher or larger. Would also be nice if they were static so not attached to the wheel so they were always in the same spot as it can be tricky to use them while "zipping" round a tight roundabout.!

They are small niggles I have no issues really and a great edition to the car.

Easy to flick a quick change when you just know the tiptronic is going to get it wrong and leave you going slow when you want to go quick

Paddles in my A6 2.0 TDI Auto seems to change instantaniously when required, and are great fun when you fancy a blast along the country lanes.

I don't think it will change if it is inappropriate to do so, i.e. the speed is too low to be in too high a gear. The only thing I would say is that in the 2.0TDi I don't find they are much help, leave the gearbox in 'S' and let it work out the best gear to be in

You can buy replacement paddles similiar to the BMW ones, they are longer so stick out maybe an inch top and bottom - expensive though.
