My daughter's Mk 4 golf suddenly has a flashing yellow coil light on the dash. Engine is OK. Local garage said probably brake light switch. Checked brakes and sure enough lower brake lights both out but high level Ok. I changed brake light switch which was a four pin but no change. Checked Haynes manual but this only shows wiring for a two pin switch. My guess is that the bottom lights must go through a relay but I don't know which one. Does anybody have any ideas please

is still only one high level light working? or none now?

fit two new bulbs each side....you can have just two blown bulbs causing a light on the dash to come on as it sensors an open circuit.

Hi After changing switch no change - high level light works, still both brake lights not working and coil light still flashing. I did check bulbs but both looked OK. If I change the bulbs and it fixes the brake light how do i re-set the fault light on the dash?
