Strange beep !

Wondering if anyone can help ; I have an A4 saloon without reversing sensors fitted,twice recently I have started the car (clutch down in neutral) and heard a beep,beep,beep from what sounds like the rear nearside of the vehicle,it actually sounds like a reversing sensor noise when in proximity to a post,has anybody got a clue what this could be please ????????? Failing back-up battery in the alarm....

That makes sense,the alarm went off for the first time ever the other night,where would I find the back up battery please ??

The rechargeable back up battery is in the alarm, these tend to leak and burn the PCB,
There is a fix over on the TT forum, I 'll go find the link.....

Did you used to have a TT in the past?

Last time my A4 was in the hands of an Audi expert with VagCom (a8!) I had the "alarm set" chirp enabled. It's very reassuring and isn't loud enough to disturb the neighbors when I arrive home late at night.

I have alarm chirp activated too, very handy so I can lock the car and don't have to look at it to know it's locked - it only beeps if it is all done properly.

There's a specific fix for the A4 in the how tro section of this website too.
