Number plate light & fog light not working

Hi Every one

Can some one please help me!!!!

I have an A4 1.9TDi 2004 and have had a warning come up on my DIS telling me my that my rear number plate lights are not working.
After reading a few threads from this site I have purchased some quality lamps cleaned up the contacts but only the left hand lamp is working.I have also noticed that my left hand fog light was not working, so I replaced the lamp and it will still not work.
Can any one tell me how I can replace the number plate lamp holder as I think this or the contacts to it are faulty, and can any one explain why the left hand fog light will not work even after cleaning the contacts with wire wool and electrical contact cleaner.

Because you don't have a left hand rear fog.. you only have the offside rear foglight.

Number plate holder from dealers is about £6. The contacts on the holder are very messy, I think they need to be aligned at a certain angle or something. Best bet just go dealers and get a new one.

i had a similar fault with my number plater light and i have to agree best go dealers and buy a new one. You may have to adjust the contacts slightly inside which worked for me, I also left one screw slightly loose.

Lube the screws, they tend to rust and are a bugger to remove...

Any one have a clue what the part numbers are for a replacement lamp holder and the connection fitting that the lamp holder sits in, may try and see if they are any cheaper on the net.
