re 1999 2.8 A8. Initial Sympton engine temp guage dropped from usual 90 to around 70 and heater started to blow cold on tickover ( CC always set to Auto) No action taken so was like this for 3 months. Recently due to cold winter thought I would run heater on Manuel but water entered footwells and heard water running through ducts to rear compartment. Switch back to Auto on CC and problem ceased but still blowing cold on tickover. Please advise most economical sequence to diagnose. Am I looking at thermostat, heater core, drain tubes?
