    Hi all,

I have just swapped my 2.0 TDI 140BHP golf for an A3 2.0 T FSI Quatro.

I also get around 30 MPG on 10 mile long trips so the ecconomy is around what it should be.

Trouble is that although I was expecting a bit of a drop in torque, I cant help feeling that this car is not quite up to power.

It does pull smoothly from below 2000rpm right to the red line, and you can hear the turbo working, so maybe it is just the combination of going to petrol from diesel and the extra weight of the quatro system.

Are there any common problems which may cause a drop in power? There are no warning lights and there are no misfires or anything like that, I was just expecting more "urge"

Any advice will be greatly appreciated, or any comments from someone who has driven both petrol and diesel versions.

    Thanks

    Dod

I do agree that the switch from Diesel to Petrol can feel strange for a while.

I never had problems with my old 2.0t quattro sportback apart from MPG was never that great in fact my S3 is better but that maybe because of my driving style - Is the 2.0T new as I think it needs 2000+ miles on before it starts to lossen up

If it feels underpowered there is a common fail point on the 2.0t. The diverter valve. If your current DV is torn it will leak boost and NOT throw a CEL. There is an OES replacement valve that is a piston instead of a diaphragm. It can fail but doesn't NEARLY as often. Ultimately, Forge produced a replacement valve that nearly NEVER fails.

Here is a link to get you jogging Click here for new diverter valves

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I finally got around to checking my diverter valve yesterday and the diaphragm is indeed full of holes.

Hey, there you go! Thanks for the followup, this way if new people to the forums search they'll see the whole process and know to check their diver valve as well.

I have a 2007 2.0TFSI Quattro. I can't hear or notice any turbo noise at all. How should I notice it please?

It will be a gentle whine, probably much more noticeable outside the car. Have a friend drive circles around you in the parking lot and you will here the pleasant whine of your turbo spooling.
