How do you go about removing a front washer jet?

I have one functioning jet (driver's side) and the other does not work, but I can see fluid running off the corner of the bonnet right where the pipe runs around the back of the bonnet hinge, suggesting it has disconnected from the jet itself.

I can see where the pipe runs into the bonnet and has a rubber grommet surrounding it, but cannot see how I would get to the base of the jet apart from by removing the jet itself and it looks well held in and I am reluctant to tug it in case I break it!

    Thanks.

To unclip the washer jets you just have to push them towards the the front edge of the bonnet, then it'll drop out and you can pull (very tight!) the hose off.

Hopefully the attached pic of a jet will help.

Part number for the jet is 6E0955985B and they are about £2 from the dealer.

The front clip had broken (probably due to age and going brittle) on one of mine so I ended up buying two just in case...

Thanks Mr Curtis, when you say push towards front edge of bonnet, do you mean pull/slide the jet out of its hole towards the windscreen?

You can make out the spring clips, one each side of tube which obviously disappear into the bonnet.

The other clip you can just make out on the top of the jet, this one is quite thin.

So, just by gently pushing the jet towards the leading edge of the bonnet (ie front of car) should release the top clip (you should be able to feel when this comes away from the metal) allowing the jet to fall free of the bonnet. Mind you, you'll pushing the jet up as the bonnet will be open.

It's hard to describe how to do things remotely, but hope I've helped...

Makes me think of when people (me included!) wave their arms round when talking on the phone.

Thanks folks, you have a been a great help.

Pretty sure it must be as maf says, I tried my washers loads whilst they were frozen and now one has stopped! I guess it couldn't be a leak in the main pipe travelling around the bonnet hinge as it would affect both washers.

I will carefully try prising the little jet out with your guide, cheers!

    No worries.

It's been a while since I replaced my washer jet which was loose already as the clip on the top had broken. Memory of that job now slight hazy...

The pipe which has a plastic connector on it was a tight fit to the jet, didn't have to look at any other areas of the pipework.

Glad if I've helped in a small way.

    Thanks everyone, job sorted!

It was a disconnected washer jet in the end, just popped the oval cover off and unclipped the jet, popped them back together and away we go! Amazing how easy the jets were to unclip when you knew 'how' they unclipped instead of trying to tug at them!

Just on this subject are the jets heated and do they automatically heat or are they heated along with the door mirror switch? Is the heating part within the washer jet? Suffering in the cold weather with no squirty!

    Many thanks
