Depending on quite how heavy my right foot is, I usually see between 23 and 26mpg. On a decent run 30mpg is possible, but as soon as you need to start using any real power, overtaking on A roads, or hit any stop start traffic, that will drop pretty fast.

    Here's my real world figures.

In this winter weather the run to and from work is through town with no open roads and I'm getting around 27mpg.

When I was working out the other side of town and the journey was half motorway and half town I was getting a very regular 32mpg.

When I run up to my parents which is a 120 mile journey with 90% of it on the motorway I get around 36mpg easily. I once managed 38/39 but I was driving like a grandad and was just curious as to how much I could tease out of it.

Over the course of a year around 33mpg is easily achievable for me. The car is a 2.8 quattro with manual gearbox, always serviced by myself on time etc.

    Hope that helps

I'm quite amazed at those figures, mine's a manual as well, perhaps the new (62K) engine will be better on fuel than the old, it certainly seems sweeter and smoother. Only time will tell.
