Hi this is my first post here so please go easy on me

I am about to replace my company car with an A3 2.0 TDi 140 Start/Stop; but I am not sure which version to get - Sport or S line. I have read a few reviews which state that the suspension on the S Line is “shocking” (if you pardon the pun) and adversely affects the handling of the car. Can anyone confirm this? I am currently driving an Leon FR. It has an incredibly hard suspension (so much so that it keep the girlfriend quite on bumpy roads) but is a fun and fantastic car to drive.

I have already driven the Sport and hope to get a shot in an S line in the near future, but i just thought i was ask for the opinion of the experts.

Also just an observation but why is everyone on the forum so shy about posting pictures of their A3’s? I would particularly like to see some photos of white, silver and monza A3’s.

    Thanks

    Hi and Welcome

I have an S3 and the suspension is hard very hard. It has been sometime since I have driven an Sline but I think they are the same Suspension. Great Motorway drive just watch out for those pothole and speed bumps.

I would recommend test driving an Sline so you can make up your own mind as I am sure so people on here hate the Sline Suspension.

I would contact tlionhart he has a White A3, You can also click on his profile there is a pic on there.

    Good Luck

the s-line does have hard suspension. As it is lowered 10mm over the sport version. The sport as you found is a comfortable, soft suspension and any pot holes hit, absorb this. Especially with road humps.

As for the S-line, the driving feels better over the sport because it just feels more sportier. Including it's road handling. The profile on the tyres are different also in this aspect, because the sport is 17" alloy and the sline is 18". In reference to your question about the suspension, yes every road hump, pot hole can be felt. It's not as extreme as say a customised car modifiers suspension, your mates may have on say a corsa or clio (or similar hatchback types)

As onemanparty recommended i truly advise you go out and drive an S-line. I think if you liked the Leons suspension then the s-line won't disappoint. I have owned both the sport and s-line versions and i'd choose the s-line any day! In addition to the suspension you get the extra trim detail. Chrome exhaust, sporty rear defuser and sline spoiler, matt finished interior and s-line aluminium door placards. Part leather/cloth seating with leather handbrake and gear knob. S-line style steering wheel. Bout all i can think off the top of my head.

Car looks amazing in white, thanks for posting the pictures.
Are the seats different from the Sport or are they the same seats with part leather?

Thanks! The sport is only cloth and the side bits are also in cloth but different. The s-line standard seating is part leather/cloth. The leather bits come out to give it that sportiness. Bit like the golf.
