No, a recall refers to a safety rectification with customer notification required by law, where as a workshop campaign refers to improvements highlighted via dealer portal Elsa win vehicle specific history.

So if you go in for a service the history is checked for outstanding actions and then the dealer acts on the campaign criterion.

Great news too - thanks for this. Let's hope it also fixes the radio/TMC/TP issues too!

The mmi is not updated just the mapping

    Top info A8 Tech

So 20g is the version of the update? Any idea how the pricing will be done. As discussed before these times concern me if we're likely to be billed for this time.

Good to also hear about the June update.

I wish they'd solve the 5 digit post code issue as well

Weird - I read it completely differently. I assumed A8 meant it was a 20-Gigabyte update. I must have a really odd brain!

The 7 digit post code has been allowed on the new A8 3G+

The nav functions for mmi 3g+ are awesome and i think audi have excelled with the new system, its really that good

Some features like the headlights acc and thermal camera are all linked in to the nav so the vehicle reacts to the gps signal,
    Example

Night-time drive with route of your choice allows the headlights to adjust to the location and the gear change to adapt to the road etc, its awesome really awesome

speed zones and poi are so good its hard to compare with 3g.

I would love to tell more but you need to get booked into the launch days coming up at the centres to see for yourself.

    I wont a new A8

Audi have paid the subscription to the post office for the data and I suspect this will follow for other models but not yet as A8 is the flagship.

As for the cost of the update I suspect the payment of the license will include the workshop labour, the dealer retains the sd card as they have to pay Audi for this and you just purchase the license to activate.

As always this info is not definite but I would suggest its near as dam it.

If the update was released via cd then the estimated run time is 4 hours so as the mmi has the sd card function then it makes sense to upload that with as nav uses a large part of the hard drive.

Please don't bombard your dealers as this information I give to you is to keep you up to date and in know way to be assumed as 100% definite

    Regards A8

    It's much appreciated.

There's no point going to the dealer anyway as they won't be as up to date as those of us with the benefit of your input

    >>The now turn left issue will be resolved with a new mmi update in June

Just found this thread - useful info, A8 Tech.

It's good that Audi has recognised this problem and done something about it. A8 - do you know anything more about the 3GMMI/FM station update (lack of)/TMC problem? According to my last contact with the Service Mgr at Nottingham, this problem is 'unknown' to Audi and, as such, not likely be fixed anytime soon

Do you have any idea how much a 3G map update costs? I wish I'd kicked up a bit when I got my A6 last year, and the maps were obviously quite a bit out of date already. It seems reasonable to expect the maps to be up to date when you buy the car, or if not, perhaps the next update should be FOC.

    Steve
