Does anyone else had Eagle F1's fitted to their A4?

How are they performing in the snow & ice? Mine seem dreadful - can barely get up even a moderate incline. I presume it's down to the tread pattern - great for dry/wet, dire in snow/ice!

The F1's are more of a performance summer tyre. Once the temp gets to 7 degrees or lower due to the compound of the rubber they start to lose performance on the road. Add to that the tread fills with snow and you may as well be driving in slicks.

Winter tyres are made with a different compound. Designed to work better in low temps which is where they get there grip from in the bad weather. Its the rubber compound rather than the tread pattern that keeps you moving.

Sorry but how is the tread pattern not going to matter? The abilty to get through the snow or mud etc to something that will provide grip is essential.Thats why off road tyres have big open style tread patterns so the treads dont get blocked up as easily. I used to have use some cheap remould mud and snow tyres on my rear whell drive escort and it would go anywhere.
