    Does anybody know if there is any difference between the fuel flap assembly for a B5 Estate and a B5.5 (facelift) estate? Also if they are different for a remote opening version and a manually opening version?

    My wife walked into the flap on our TDi Highline estate whilst filling up with fuel, and snapped it off at the hinge. Just to compound the problem she left the broken flap on the roof of the car whilst talking to her brother about fixing it. She then forgot about it and drove off. Needless to say that it is no longer fixable!

    I am trying to source a replacement from various on-line breakers, but am not having much luck so far. With all the silver Passat estates on the road, you'd think they'd be easy to come across!

    no, they will be difficult to come across if the cars are on the road, i think your best bet would be the dealer,not cheap,or painted either probably,
    but obtainable, definitely.
    easy for me to say, but i have trawled around scrappies in the past,and it's NOT EASY to find panels,or parts thereof,

    Spotted these on the bay; item nos. 190364385682, 220513093367 and 220531321723 or 390132956692. I have dealt with the outfit supplying the last one with no problems.

    I've had a look on Vagcat.com at year 2000 & 2001 and the part numbers are different.

    2000 = 3B0909857D/D GRU & 3B0809857E/E GRU - saloon/estate not specified.

    2001 = 3B7809857A/A GRU - saloon & 3B9809857A/A GRU - estate

    GRU = primed

    Hope this helps...
