    Paul, a bit of clarification for you
    Yes 18" rs4 style will go onto your b5, but not genuine oem rs rims because as OLD SKOOL points out quite rightly they will stick out or more likely jam against your arch,this is because of the ET measurement ie,the distance that the rim sticks out from the "hub assembly"
    What you will need to do is find a set of replicas with the right ET offset to suit your b5
    The genuine original rs4 was built with much wider bulging arch's
    My point about lowering your car when on 18's is purely that they make the car look like it is riding up in the sky, although the rims are larger the tyres are shallower in wall height thus leaving quite a gap in the arch
    I don't know the correct ET for your car but there will be a post in the Forum archives
    If you look at my profile in the album you will see my A3 turbo sat on 18"rs4 replicas and that was lowered to sit snug on the rims
    Hope this takes away some confusion
