Hi guys!. First mess. Hope you can help me.

    The car is a VW Golf IV 1.4 16v -00 enginecode:AXP
    Question no.1:

When shifting from first to second gear the car twitch one time and when driving normaly at slow speeds in town or at highway speeds the car twitches ever so little. I've connedted vag-com and noticed that when driving on the highway everything is fine but when slowing down the tempsensor tells the engien that it's colder that it really is. Could this be why the car it twitching from time to time?

    Question no.2:

The engine is leaking oil. I filled her up to MAX and has now been driving for two weeks. Yesterday when I checked again it was back down on the MIN-mark. Is this a common problem on this engine? Where should I start looking?

    Question no.3:

I once had a Volvo V70I with a twitching problem. The service-people uppgraded the software for the accellerator pedal. Is it possible to do this on the Golf as well?

Is it possible to install cruisecontrol on this car?
Hope you can help med with this

i dont know what u mean by the car twitching
so dont know how i can help you there

but as for the oil...can u see any leaks?
i know that particular engine the oil takes a while to settle in a position and the oil level reading can be misleading. so start the car for a 30 seconds....turn off and let the oil settle for a while then check the level.

    Thanks for your reply.

By twitching I mean car loosing power for a millisecond.

I was just looking under the car and I can see some dampnes but mostly where the gearbox is

gearbox selector seal does tend to leak a little....probs what you seeing. that oil will smell fishy and different from engine oil

if you cant see any leaks...then id say just keep monitoring the level and make sure it dosent drop a significant amount

remeber as you have to make allowance for the oil being hot and cold. science will tell how it epxands and contracts with temperature and give you slightly different level readings.

is it a sporadic misfire? like ht leads or spark plugs showing signs of starting to be worn....wait for the fault to worsen as intermittant faults are hard to diagnose.

if no faults are logged by the ECU or any other clues..struggle to give advice
    sorry
the coolant temperature sensor would effect your fuel efficiencey and may effect starting from cold...shouldnt effect performance at all.
