Have an issue where the car is intermittantly misfiring... took it to an independent dealer today who stuck in on the diagnostic thing and they came back with the following fault codes

    08801 P2261 008
    Air recirc.valve for turbocharger - N249 , mechanical fault

Is this likley to make the car idle badly (like a misfire) but seem to drive OK ish at speed and jump around at low speed... on A4 B7 cab... I dont dispute the fault finding but not sure its the cause of the problem... can any one confirm...

    THanks

No one got any idea.... I am lost as I dont see how a sticking valve A) needs replacing and B) would cause the engine to sound and feel like its misfiring when idling...

N249 is the electric operated recirculation valve for the turbocharger. doesn't sound like the cause of a misfire! to me. Lack of performance or turbo lag, yes. misfire?.. unlikely. Still probably requires an investigation though as fault codes don't pop up for no reason. These valves have a rubber like diaphragm that is prone to deterioration.

First supect for misfire would be coil pack(s). Does it sound like its dropping off one cylinder? Would have though any reputable specialist would have looked at these though if the fault could be replicated.

Misfire is all ok at the moment.. not sure whats going on, but now got a massive rear end wiggle, not sure if its to do whith all the ice in the rear wheel arch.. but only appears at over 60mph and is defo coming from the rear... bloody awful it is.... not sure what to do with the misfire as its booked into the garage for tuesday to have the N249 fixed, but i must admit I did think it was a misfire as it it dropped a plug and not like a boost issue...
