Looking into getting a towbar fitted soon to my B7 A4 Avant S-Line to extend the number of bikes I can carry.

Does anyone here have experience of the BrinkMatic Advance detachable towbar, is the bumper cut for the lower side of the bumper only, if you have any pics of any make detachable towbar on this car would also be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Liam

I have attached a couple of images showing a Thule (Brink) detachable towbar as fitted to my A4 B7 Avant S Line quattro.

If you require any further information, please let me know,

    Hope that this helps,

Cheers for the photos- at least it confirms I don't have to worry about a cut into the lower valance of the bumper as it is a vertical fitment towball.

Regarding the cut outs underneath the bumper is there 2 ports cut out, 1 for the towball fitment and 1 for the electric plug or just one big cut out?

I have attached a new image showing the apertures (there are two).

I have also compiled a pdf file showing the various electrics / apertures etc etc but it is too large (approx 300 kB) to attach to the forum. I you PM me with your email address, I'll email it to you.

    Hope that this helps,

    Regards,
    Bob

    Update:

I purchased a Brinkmatic Advance detachable towbar and got the Thule 909 cycle rack as Indespension were running an offer of buy the towbar, get 40% off the cycle rack.

Used this weekend for the first time and am very impressed.

    Here are pics:

Apertures cut in bumper- not visible from the rear.

Not used for towing, but the towbar seemed very well built and a doddle to take on and off the car. Not seen the OEM towbar so can't comment if it is any better or not.
