Is any one aware of the MAXIMUM power output from a Golf 4 GT TDI 110 once it has been re mapped.......

I have been told that the engines are designed to give out 200BHP.

Im interested in getting as much as i can but i want to do it with in the remit of the car and make sure that it doesnt blow up once i drive it away.

I was told that the ECU needs to come out to remap it and with this happeneing they can custom map it......

I dont want to kick the **** out of the powere but was hoping about160 to 180 if this is possable.....

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

When i bought mine, it was at 158 bhp, and mine is a 110 GTTDI (AHF), but as I didnt remap it, I aint aware of the company who did it, goes well now too!!! and Ive just clocked up 154k miles, bought at 122k March 2007.

Revs well into the red like a petrol, doesnt get all wheezy at 4k revs either

Ive not modded it in any way, just the standard panel air filter from VW, standard injectors, but i do run it on V Power diesel from shell, as crap town diesels are limited in sulphur and sulphur being a very good lubricant for the injection pump, I opt for the V Power to help prevent any lube issues within the injecxtion system.

Serviced once a year using genuine VW synta quantum oils

a very maximum safe figure for a 110 tdi would be roughly 150 bhp at the fly. Any more would put too much stress on the turbo and it would not last very long. Also the smaller 228mm 5 speed clutch would not be able to take the torque ,neither would the dmf....

A few grand would have to be spent if you want to go further. look at the asz or arl pd tdi engines for big power and spend your money on these.. All engine internals are bullet proof to over 230bhp and the 02m 6 speed box is more able for the huge torque

As far as i know, the 110bhp GTTDi doesnt have a DMF, mines on a V (1999) and has a solid flywheel....

unless mine had the solid conversion put in before i bought it (good idea too!)

The engine, block, head pistions ect are good for over 200bhp 390lbft. The issue is making the power. Tuning a TDI is basic really, more fuel more boost. The stock turbo and injectors are good for around 150bhp, to get to 180bhp you need to fit the VNT17 from a 130pd, plus a set of .216 nozzles, decat, egr delete pipe, 3bar map sensor and a good custom remap, This will take you to around 170-180bhp and a massive 300 - 320lbft.

A good remap with the .216 nozzles will / should put a grin on your face.

The 5 speed clutch and gearbox will not last long with the kind of power mentioned above!

There will be no problem at all with the gearbox, We have built a sprint car running the same gearbox connected to a 1.8t 250bhp 280lbft with 7200rpm limiter, 2nd gear 85mph.. The only weak part is the clutch.

Its the torque that kills the box is it not? Your remapped example of the 110 above with 40lb more torque than the highly strung 1.8t would surely be harder on the box? especially since the TDI's max torque comes all at once at 1900rpm to roughly 2500rpm. Your 1.8t would have less torque and it would be brought in higher up in the rev range over a wider power band. Therefore the box is not under as much pressure...

Did you have a ko4 fitted to the 1.8T? Any clips?

    170bhp and 300lb/ft, from a 110?
    on standard running gear?

that's at least 10 years old?

    without any issues?

    yeah, ok

With the VNT17VA fitted and .216 nozzles the 110tdi lump will run all day long without any issues at all at 170bhp 300lbft @ 24psi. The engines are bulit proof it looked after.

This upgrade has been carried out many times before in the past, on the TDI forums there are cars running even more power on the stock block and head. Just finished a 180bhp 300lbft project 110tdi 1999 mk4 golf 122k on the clock and runs sweet as a nut an will do for a long time.
