Do you mean the trailing edge seal? I remember getting into a Golf 5 at the Frankfurt launch on launch day as the stand opened and on the first Golf 5 I tried, the trailing edge seal fell off.

VW use a self adhesive tape to hold the seals on MK5 doors. The tape is appiled to the seal off the car and welded to the rubber seal with an Ultra vilot heat. The tape backing is then removed when the seal is applied to the doors and put in the door with a robot. This is where the problem comes in that it does not allow enough seal into the convex parts of the door and hence streching in these areas. Ultimatly bad design and fitment. this can be improved by hand aplication laying the seal on with no strech. Best bet is to remove all tape and use Evo stick contact adhesive as the main dealers do.

I refixed the seal along the bottom of one of my Mk V's doors with your basic household Epoxy Glue such as Araldite. Worked fine.

Remember to make sure both surfaces are clean and dry. Once applied, just close the door and leave for a while to allow it to adhere properly.
