    Hi all,

My expansion tank decided to develop a hole on Sunday morning and it needs replacing. I've got the 2.6 V6 and I've been looking on ebay and found one for a 1.8. The picture looks the same as the one in my car. Are they the same or do I need a different one? Also, the local breakers has diesel ones....are they the same because if they are, they're local and I can get it sorted sooner.

    Thanks in advance

the level sender connection was changed aound 97 there not inter-changeable so you need to check and match the plug
other than that there the same for petrol/tdi's except for v6 tdi which has a slightly different hose connection location
also the b6 one can be made to fit later models

These are the parts fitted to mine; the expansion tank and the coolant level indicator plug connected to the bottom of the tank.

ok, ive just had a good look in bad light and i can see places for 3 hoses and 1 sensor. all but 1 hose is attached. the one that isnt is the one underneath where the sensor is. and i cant seem to see the hose anywhere at all got to try and find a torch and have a proper look. atleast its not a hole which i guess is a good thing lol

They have different part numbers which means that there is a change in someway that prevents them from being cross compatible. However, that might all be in the cap, so if you can get a look with some light, I'd start there.
