I'm in the process of swapping out my headunit to a newer aftermarket unit in my 96 2.6 se , but Ive noticed there does not seem to be a switched live, does anyone know where the nearest one to the stereo would be as at the moment the unit is permanantly on until I switch it off.
    cheers in advance....

If you remove the rear fog switch and look at the yellow connector behind it, the lower right terminal is switched with the ignition, although it's not actually connected to the fog light switch. No idea why it's there.

I've tried that wire now, and sorry to say it is a permanant live on my car, maybe it would be easier to run a cable to somewhere near the ignition switch?

On mine, once the key is in and the ignition is on, it stays live until the key is physically removed from the ignition. If you turn the ingnition off, but don't remove the key, the wire stays live. Have you tried that?

Check the stereo fuse in the fuse box and check which power wires are connected to the wiring on your head unit (yellow and red wires), there is a switched live there........ Somewhere!!! if you find you have two permanent live feeds from the car then you probably have an ignition barrel fault so just run a new one, it'll only take 5 mins.
