A4 remote key fob replacement

i have two remote central locking keys and both have suffered fatigue fractures and have split in the same place in the metal piece that holds the key blade. fortunately i have a normal key so i can still use that with the remote. but need to replace the top parts of the keys which i believe contains the transponder for the immobiliser?

what is the cheapest way to replace them? i can see on ebay they are fairly cheap and providing i get the right code what is the cheapest means of getting the immobiliser re-coded?

i refuse to get bent over by the Audi dealership!! i did JB Weld one of the keys back in place but it only lasted for month

buy the cheapest fobs you can that look right and swap the metal parts over
if you remove the audi rings badge youll find a screw then fob comes apart, a bit of fiddling and you can swap metal parts over, no need for recoding!

a ha brilliant!! thanks for that, i wondered why it was so tough to open! i had convinced myself it was a sealed unit as it was so hard.

that is definitely going to be my means of fixing it
