    Hi All,

I have brought a remote control system for my central locking. I am having problems understanding the wiring diagram that it came with. It is for all systems including air compressor. I am planning on fitting the unit in the boot next to the compressor. Does anyone know what they mean by common line? For the locking and unlocking it has 3wires. 1 called normally open, 1 called normally close and 1 called common point/line. As far as I understand the green and grey wires coming out of the compressor are for the opening and closing of the locks? Really confussed about the rest. Will pop a pick of the wiring diagram on here in a sec.

Any help will be very very welcome.

    Steve

Common line is always earth in my experience
If you have a switched live either side one open and one closed the earth will never be switched, just permanent and the positive either side will be switched either on or off according to what your ermote is telling it.
    Give that a go

    Hi,

Wired it up today but got a problem!!When I have the drivers door open the remote will open the locks but will then lock them again on its own in 10seconds! with the door shut it doesn't work at all. What is going on? The instructions tellme to connect the trigger wire to the common wire. I guess this is +12v? anyone got any ideas on this?

The deadlock system kicks in after about 10 seconds.....
I can't help more than that but maybe it's something to do with your problem ?

Steve, gimme a shout on PM mate. I have a central locking kit that i bought off ebay over 3 years ago. I've had it in a 3 series Beema, a 1.8 Golf GL and it's about to go into my 1.9 Diesel... i've got a dead simple way to fit it IF you have all the parts needed and even if you don't, they're a doddle to get hold of ok fella? I think i might even have a step by step photo guide somewhere about the place for it, or as good as damn it. I'll hunt that out for you to. If i find it, i'll post the link for it on here

Additional: Just found a simple way to add a kit to your existing central locking using just the following...

    battery positive wire

    battery negative wire

    lock wire from kit

and guess what next? yup, unlock wire from kit!

Going to try it in the morning (depending on weather) and will post reply as to ease on a scale of 1 to 10. Take into account i'm actually pretty average at things like this so if I score it a 7 or above, it truly is a doddle!
