    Hi

I might be being a little thick, but how do I remove the headlight switch from a 54 plate avant ? Mine is bust, but don't want to wreck the dash removing it !

Also, Audi tell me the part i out of stock until the end of January - can anyone recommend anywhere I might get one - mine is the one with manual operation only.

    Cheers

    Rich

In the MkIV Golf, you pushed it in a bit, turned it to the sidelight position and then pulled to get it out. I imagine it's the same for the A4.

The switch is retained by a pair of spring loaded bayonett's on the side of the barrell which engage with cut-outs in the plastic moulding. With the lights in the off position, push the control inwards and rotate about 10 degrees clockwise. That will retract the bayonett's, then simply pull the switch out and presto!

The light switch assembly with the independant front / back fog switch (which I think the A4 requires) cost me about £36 (for my Mk.4 golf) several years ago, so £30 - £40 sounds about right!

Do all the illumination bulbs for yours still work? If so, I'd consider buying it off you! (although mine works fine, only half of the facia illuminates!)

I needed to replace mine a few months back as couple of the illumination LEDs had gone (not replaceable apparently).

From memory, cost me about £65 from Audi.
