Due to silly mistake by the other half, trying to clear a frozen windscreen full of snow with the wipers....

I'm left with the task of buying a new drivers side wiper arm, probably new wiper blade (which I'd just replaced 2 months ago) and fitting them. Hopefully the 2 month old windscreen has survived intact - can't tell at the moment - what a disaster.

Question, is replacement of the arm straight forward enough? Anyone got any idea of how much a wiper arm will cost? ECP doesn't list them on their website and I doubt a breakers will have one handy either.

    Any advice is welcomed.

    About £25 I think.
They're a right bugger. Take off the plastic cap, undo the big nut, and pull! But they can be a right bugger to get off. Lots of grease! I tred rocking forward and back, using grease etc, but it wouldn't budge. Luckily I have a friend who has wiper arm pullers! Be careful you dont hit the bonnett when you pull the arm up and off (best access means the bonnet should be up)

    Hope this helps!

find a windscreen fitter and ask them to remove it for you.....easy and simple...give him £10, and they will be happy.

I've removed them before, easy enough. Remove cap, remove nut, pull <= pre-greased with PB blaster.

As for new arms, I could source you a new one:

Fantastic replies, thanks for the advice and info. Audi informed the 'other half' that a new blade and arm will cost us £42 + vat. Fingers crossed they'll stick it on for her too, but not holding my breath.

Got the parts today and fortunately the old arm came out easily, I think due to a recent windscreen replacement, so all sorted and ready to go. Thanks to Robin who helped us out.

I don't think a repeat will ever happen again after the 'pep talk' we had the other night.

Once again thanks for the advice and guidance.
