    Hi,

just rang my nearest main dealer who is 14 miles from home to ask if my car has a DPF.
After taking my vehicle registration number and confirming the model, they rang me back to tell me that they did not know and that i would have to take the car to them so that "we can shine a torch down the back of the engine to see if it has one or not".
Does this type of answer really fill you with confidence that when you have work done on your car at main dealers they actually know what they are doing?

While not completely 100% as far as I am aware the 140 doesn't have the DPF but the 170 does.

CSanchez is correct in that the 170PS models came with DPF as standard, however, you could order the DPF as an option on the 140.

More likely than not you won't have one. Look for this symbol (or similar) on the dash when you turn the ignition on. It should light and then extinguish if a DPF is fitted

    Hi guys,

Thank you both for your replies.I have checked for this symbol on my dash and it was not visible which if you are correct means my car is not fitted with a DPF.

Hi, bit of a late comer to this one ha ha.

Im almost certain that the non DPF cars have hidden exhaust tail pipes and the DPF cars have them sticking straight out the back of the valance.
Im sure this is so the exhaust residues are shot straight down to the ground were as the DPF cars produce no visible residues coz thats what the DPF is there for.

You can find out exactly what you have by using the options code decoder http://igorweb.org/equidec/Default.aspx.

Get the codes from the inside page of your service book or else off the sticker in the spare wheel well. Put them into the decoder and it will tell you everything you've got.
