mmm..i see. so watch the speedo, and amend my speed limits..But looks great guys. Ill take some fotos tmrw in the daylight and post them for sure. I mean wheels and tyres for me on cars is like a woman's hair style (+/- cup size ) so its important, and I really hated how it looked with the standard rims and tyres. Ill drive it carefully, but am really happy with the looks. tick in the box, 2 to go: Remap, and Tinted window. and then small ticks for in-car DVD& Tv

Hello peeps! just passed my MOT at my local dealer, passed with no probs and FOR FREE!!!! ausome!!

here are some fotos as promised. they really look better in real life. I really love when you look at it from behind, the tyres are popping out a tiny bit, giving a BMW 5-series M package like look

looking at the pics, the offset looks wrong - does the car tramline on the motorway?

I am surprised the dealer didn't pic up on the MOT that it is not legal if the tyre sticks out beyond the wheel arch - as it is classed as a danger to pedestrians.

You are right though - at least it looks good!

well actually if u look closer, it doesnt really stick out beyond the wheel arc as such, just looking from behind, sticks a bit out of the wheel arch which is at the bumper not the wing itself. so its still inside the wing wheel arch.

Surely 255/40/19s are what is used on S6/RS6s? They'll be geared differently, by my calculations to get your speedo accurate on your car you'd need to fit 255/30/19s which would not only break your wallet but probably your back too. That's if you can even buy them!

If I remember rightly, the Le Mans spec cars come with 235/40/18s which would be safe to put on, or whatever size the Le Mans' come with.
    Hi Paul,

Standard fit for the Le Mans is 255/35/19, and the S-Line models come as standard with 245/40/18. S6 comes with 265/35/19s and is indeed geared differently.

I did my calculations based on the difference between the 255/35/19s on my car and the 255/40/19s Nick fitted to his. Given that both the 205/55/16s on the SE and the 235/35/19s on the Le Mans are standard fit (and 19s of this size are available as an optional extra for the SE), I'd say the difference in radius between these two is within tolerance for the speedo calibration, but 255/40/19s are not.

You're correct though that the speedo in Nick's car will now suddenly read a lot slower than it did - by a rather bigger margin than my calculation - because of the jump from 16s.

    Cheers!

    MF.

Thanks for that MF. I think we can safely agree that 255/35/19s should have been fitted, and when the car next needs tyres the current ones should be replaced with this size.

although i cant stop looking at them!! i think with the right person and ideas, we can beat the legendary bmw looks ..some time in the near future. but to be honest, i still think bmw looks better. but i love the audi still. i dunno.

You mentioned the evil B*W. Isn't that an automatic 24-hour ban? (Just kidding!!!).

Personally, I really dislike the looks of the BMW range at the moment, especially the 5 series. They seem to have taken the "Marmite" approach to car design - you either love it or hate it. Seems very odd to me that they would alienate a sizeable portion of their target market by following this strategy, but I guess they must have had their reasons.

BMWs are pig ugly, I'd never want an Audi to look like them. The only decent looking Beamer is the 5 series, the others look ugly and naff.

Take the X6 for example, that takes ugliness to a whole new level.
