Anyone have an idea on how I could use the the cruise control on my Golf 6. It's a 1.4TSI Comfortline . . . a bit of info I don't have the multi-functional steering wheel, I'm from SA. . . and the indicator arm that I'm supposed to use according to my dealer manual that comes with the car doesn't allow this. The opposite arm for the wiper blades only gives the TRIP option (fuel consumpt, dist travelled etc.) If anyone can advise PLEASE do so. I can't even access any menu which I should be able to do according to the manual.

Could perhaps advise but I'm confused as to what you are asking. If you have cruise control then this in nothing to do with Multifunction Steering wheel or what type of computer you have i.e. Midline or Highline. If you have not got the Highline then you can't alter any functions other than to view the various screens/information by the rocker switch on the end of you wiper stalk.
The controls for your cruise control is on your indicator stalk (if cruise control is indeed fitted) in which case you turn it on by flicking over the switch on top of the stalk and then setting your speed when you have reached the desired speed. Anyway, all this should be in your manual.

I don't have the controls on the indicator stalk which why I'm so confused. When I purchased the car from VW I was told that all comfortline TSIs come standard with cruise control and the sales manager told me that it could be controlled from the wiper stalk. If what you say is true then the comfortline that I'm in possession of doesn't come with cruise control. Any suggestions ......?

sounds like you've been spun a yarn unfortunately

I've recently bought a nearly new SE and the cruise control is one of the easiest to operate that I've ever come across - from the switch on the indicator stalk
    - I'd go back to the dealers & ask forcibly how they are going to sort out their mistake

Then, I am afraid you haven't got Cruise Control and you were perhaps initially confused with your car's spec. or your dealer mislead you from the start.

There were 3 different TSI specs in SA, Trendline (entry level), Comfortline (mid) and the Highline. From my i=understanding I thought that the Comfortline comes standard with cruise control. I've contacted the dealership and they told me that only select Comfortline models came with cruise control, which confused me especially when I was told that the car has cruise control. I've just spoken to the dealership 1 h ago, and I'm still waiting for a response.

If all else fails its a very easy retro fit, my delaer offers the service for less than the factory option price (Ł156 vs Ł215) and will still cover it for the length of the factory warranty.

apologies for going off topic - but while we're talking retrofits - do you know what fog lights would cost?

No doubt silly money, you will probably need to add the wiring loom and new switch as well as new wheel arch liners and the fogs themselves. Ring used to do a remoe operated switch which eleviated the need to add looms etc, just wire the lights to a power source and use the remote to turn on/off.. This might makefor a much easier install if not quite OE in operation.
