i think its the 115bhp version
it started as a slight misfire which got worse over a few weeks
now when i come to lights the revs drop down to about 500 then regain themselves to about 8 or 9 but the misfire is still there
it seems ok when driving normally but about a week ago the light came on
i scanned it on a solus and it gave all of these codes

17978 engine ecu blocked (p1570) error occurs intermittent

16555 fuel trim (bank 1) system too lean (p0171) error occurs intermittent

17831 secondary air injection system (bank 1) flow too low (p1423) error occurs intermittent

16556 fuel trim (bank 1) system too rich (p0172) error occurs intermittent

17549 load registration unlikely value (p1141)

i cleared the codes and it ran fine for about 10 miles then it started to dip again and within another 5-10 miles the light came back on
no doubt the same codes again

does anyone know what these codes mean?

    thanx
    carl

Cold boot the car as described in the first link as the other codes aren't immo related.

It all points to a vacuum leak imho.

Which codes came back? These are prone to split crankcase vent pipes which as said by mycarsavw points to an air leak after the AMM.

Mine was a split hose in the SAP system - directly behind the engine, foreward of the firewall.

thanx for the input/info, i didnt get chance to get back to rescan, ill head up there monday to see whats came back, incidentally i started having another problem shortly afterwards, probably not related but its indirectly gave me some info, my battery is really weak, sometimes if i leave the parking light on or if i leave the lights on for a minute or so, it will die and i cant start it, well the mrs went out in it and she left the indicator/parking light on when she went into a shop, came out and it wouldnt start, i arrived and jump started it, the light reset, no more engine management light, its been 4 days and 250 miles, it still idles funny but the light hasnt returned, but after that dead battery incident my central locking wouldnt work properley
the button would only open and close the drivers door, usually when its pressed it first locks all doors and then deadlocks them, it was only locking them on the first click and when opening, it only opened drivers door, this was happening for 2 days until my battery died again, i started it with a booster pack and after that the central locking worked fine again,
i was just thinking if maybe the immobiliser/central locking problem is setting off one of the codes, or maybe causing a drain on the system producing strange fault codes
just a thought, and probably way off but still...
anyway, tomorrow ill have a look see if i can find any dodgy vacuum pipes etc, and failing that ill be back to rescan on monday, whatever info i get ill post up here,
thanx again guys, i was lost for a while on the codes, the solus book doesnt cover some of the codes i got
luckily you knew where to look

I'd say your battery is shot. Get a new one and reset the fault codes, and then go from there. Thats probably why your central locking etc was playing up.
Wouldn't have thought it would account for your other problems, but you never know.

new battery as u say, and then rescan

    thanx
