Really needing help with my Golf mk gti anniversary PD ARL

When warming up my engine there a loud nasty banging sound coming from the bell housing/gear box casing, coming not timed but a weird banging sound

Once the engine has warmed theres no sound?

Possibly the DMF, which is preferable to the cams.

Check to see whether depressing the clutch pedal reduces the noise.

Found some prices...would a solid conversion kit be worth it? Does it change anything?

While a solid conversion sounds like a better idea, it also comes with its drawbacks. The biggest being tranmission of noise into the car. DMF's are put into modern cars to "absorb" noise and shock loads in drivetrains of moderns cars and to reduce stress caused to components of the drivetrain from ever increasing horsepower ratings of engines today. So fitting a SMF or solid flywheel will no doubt eliminate the worry of having it pack up but you will be faced with more noise and vibration inside the car and its something you probably don't want if you use the car as an everyday driver to and from work etc.
