    Hello All,
I wonder if you can help me I have an 1996 A4 1.9 TDI with a dead gearbox, currently stuck outside where the AA left it, locked solid.
Someone locally has a 1.9 engine (non-turbo) and gearbox for sale out of a Seat Inca van, first thoughts were to fit complete, but apparently its not as easy as just bolting a turbo on the side, so my question is, will the gearbox fit mine?
My gearbox is a CPC code according to the sticker in the boot, the van is long gone and the person on the phone says he can't see a code on the gearbox. I expect the gearing will be lower, I'm not really woried about that, will my drive shafts bolt straight on to it?
Any help would be appricated, thank you.

    Dave

your engine faces front to back, the vans is transverse, so in a word, no. it wont fit, simple as that. your better off hunting down the correct gearbox. youll just have to call all the audi breakers you can till you find one.

    Sorry, me again, newbie.

Does it matter what engine the box was on?
Is a CPC box the same no matter what?
There is a CPC box for sale that was on a AHU engine, mine is a 1Z, will that make a difference?
    Thanks,

    Dave
