hello guys, i'm new to this forum.
I have an A4 '96 model 1.6 and I want to put a 1.8t engine in it. Engine wise, what am i going to need? Also in what car models can i find a 1.8t engine that fits a B5?
Also i'm thinking of getting a pair of S4 brake callipers for the front brakes, what are their specs?
I'm pretty familiar with car tunings but this is my first audi attempt so any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Agreed.

If you're into swapping engines as a hobby, why not do something a bit different?

Putting a B5 1.8T into a B5 is a little pointless, when audi already did it thousands of times and to a better standard than any of us could. If you want more power in your A4, make it something special and stick an A8 4.2 in it.

Or, I once saw on a track day an old mini, looked normal from the outside, but had the running gear from a BMW E30 318iS. 5 speed box, RWD, limited slip diff and about 500kg with around 160bhp, tuned. Make one of those, road legal with a cage and you'll have more fun than you'll know what to do with.

I'd buy a A4 1.8T then spend the remainging cash on upgrading the engine itself

the reason why i thought of the 1.8t is because it's easy to tune it due to the turbo. plus you can get a second hand one very cheap. the engine itself will ofcourse be tuned before i put it in the car. Same goes for brakes, suspension etc. Because I bought this car just for messing with it, I found one that was dirt cheap, it's got a tired engine, scraped bumpers and rims but all of these things will be thrown away anyway.
Oh and any advice on the suspension/rim part will be greatly appreciated since this is my first audi attempt

To do the engine swap you will need everything attached to it loom, ecu, clocks, exhaust, gearbox, fuel pump, drive shafts suspension and most differently brakes.

The S4 brakes won’t fit without fitting the whole hub but the rears will.
