    No and no.

The system is designed to be recirculative and by fitting an atmospheric valve you are losing all that valuable boost which can be reused to reduce turbo lag. They're a total waste of money.

    No problem

I would suggest changing your diverter valve though, as cars with original diaphragm ones are almost always split when people come to me for tuning. For the A3/TT/Golf/Octavia there's a new one (revision D) which is a piston type which is MUCH improved, I'm sure there's one for the A4/A6 too but I don't know the part number off the top of my head.

The revision 'D' is the same on the A4/A6, as it is on transverse engines

    Part number 06H145710D

£46.45 inc vat from your local dealer. (That can be VW / Audi /Skoda or Seat - it maketh no difference - its used widely on all brands)

As Shark says its much improved. Its the current version fitted at the factory to most new 2.0tfsi engines - Hell, its even fitted to the 2.5 tfsi 5cyl TTRS (340ps)

Bit of a pain to change on the A4 as its on the front of the engine and the radiator fan is only a couple of inches away, not leaving much room!

    2006 A4 saloon 2.0T S-Line Special Edition.

Is there an easy way to tell if the original diaphragm is split?
