Had to smile to myself when I realised that Sheffield Audi is missing from the POIs in the MMI 3G satellite navigation. When I say "missing", I merely mean it's not where it's supposed to be - it's where it was over a year ago.

They did move at the end of 2008, to their new location... however, considering that MMI 3G didn't come out until May 2009, I might expect that Audi would have at least their own Audi Centre POIs correct in their database.

I mean... I don't expect all the roads to be up to date, and all the other POIs.

But your own Audi Centres? Wherever you buy the data from, you think someone would say "can you please ensure our own centres are correct in there, because it would be rather embarrassing otherwise".

Oh... of course, if I ask my car to take me to the nearest Audi Centre, it will take me to an abandoned building. Sweet.

    Numpties.
    Cheers, Hippo

It's the same with Camberley Audi!

The map gives the location of CA as that of the VW (Whites) service centre, albeit only about 300 yards down the road!

Same with Parklands Audi in Gloucestershire. It gives the location of the Nissan garage a few roads away!

    Excellent work there, Audi!

Oh dear. I guess once they've sold someone an Audi, they don't want to see them again, so why not make it as hard as possible for them to get back to any Audi location? After all, you're most likely coming to complain.

Also, it is technically possible to automatically delete emails that come into any Audi location from an existing customer... a simple database lookup, I guess... what am I saying, they obviously do this already.

The quality of the data in said database might well be questionable though.

Same with Stoke Audi. The dealership moved four miles to a new site at the beginning of 2008, but my 3G nav (April 2009) still lists them at the old site. Originally, the old site had big "We've Moved" posters in the windows, pointing hapless navigees towards the new site, but since the yobbos started throwing bricks through the windows of the old abandoned showroom, they are now all boarded up so the posters and directions are no longer visible. All the courtesy cars I've driven with nav recently have had Stoke City's Britannia Stadium as the destination for returning the car (it's right next door to the new site), and it always amuses me that they have to do this...

Out of interest... Is there a way to update the MMI/SatNav to a newer version? I've noticed the new B8s (2010) have the funky joystick thing for navigation, so I was wondering whether there's anything for us with old 2009 models...

The difference is DVD-based and HDD-based, as well as the new joystick - which is not as useful, or as used, as you might think. Good for playing with while stuck in traffic... but day-to-day use is much less, for me.

Short answer would be "no"; nothing that can do done, but, more importantly, I'd not worry about it at all as you probably have a better sat. nav. system anyway.
