    Hi all,
having bought a 2003 S-line recently, engine code BAU, i need to change the headlights for continental use. Looking in the handbook, if fitted with conventional bulbs there is a switch i can change.
    But i have Hid lights.
The socket on the back has an inlet pipe in the horizontal position at the moment. It appears that is is also possible to rotate this socket thru 90 degrees as there are un-used slots on the cap.
    Any info anyone?
    Thanks.

There is a lever between the main the main and dip beams which deals with this. Renove the clip on cover from the steering fluid tant and the air intake duct from the slam panel, 2 screws. remove the back cover from the head light unit and you should see the lever, down for driving on the left and up to drive o the right. Regards Peter

It appears that there is no switch/lever inside to change between lh and rh driving.
The lights are specifically for driving on the right, therefore suit my needs. This has been verified by the local garage.
Ah well, one for the books.

I can send you the official Audi diagrams. However you will not be the first that has reported that there model has no lever. I looked up your specific model and HID and Audi suggest there is a lever, not a switch as you suggest. Regards Peter

    Hi Peter,
I notice in this thread you mention Audi diagrams showing the location of the lever for conversion from RHD to LHD. Can you please let me know where I could find the diagrams? I have a 2004 A4 Cabriolet 8H. I live in France and am finding it very difficult to locate replacement headlights. I finally found the headlight serial number and it is 8H0 941 004AD. Apparently the 8H is the model number. The third digit shows if the part is different on left hand drive cars (LHD) or right hand drive cars (RHD). If it's 0 there's no difference. If it's 1 it's for LHD and if it's 2 it's for RHD. So there is no difference. I just need to find the lever and make the change.
    Many thanks
    Tom

According to the manuals the A4 did not have this option and used masking elements on the lenses to alter the pattern. They are listed in the parts catalogue for A4's up to 10/2004 and different number for 10/2004 onwards. Regards Peter
