hi, not had a chance to look properly yet so thought i would ask before i get too involved.............

the T5 2.5TDi 6speed box i'm told is a "sealed for life" unit lubrication wise but being an 'old skool' type guy i would prefer to drain and refill with fresh now its done a few miles (70K ish)
do they actually have a drain or fill plug??

    cheers

Exactly the same here. 62k on mine now and I'm old school too! I did check a while back and buy the tool. It's a giant size security torx (16mm) socket. I'm pretty sure there are drain and level plugs both using this socket. I keep meaning to get on with it but I haven't got round to checking the oil spec yet.

I'd be interested to know if there have been any changes to the spec on the 2.5's because there have been a few gearbox problems on T5's. I know there was a change to the gear oil spec on the 1.9's some time ago to cure a crunching gear problem I think it was.

I remember it coming up on the Brickyard T5 site. I thought the problem was only on the 1.9's. but perhaps it occurs on the 2.5's also. It's worth asking the dealer about a goodwill claim.
