Possibly the heat caused the Input Shaft Oil Seal to fail? Did it lose all the oil? I done loads of gearbox swaps on this model under warranty (managers decision not technicians!),but jumping out of gear can also be cables out of adjustment.

thanks for that it has lost all of its oil but it started leaking soon after he got it back in your opinion is there any other reason for it to lose its oil because the clutch is ok and if the input shaft oil seal went surely it would ruin the clutch

Yes i would expect oil contamination on clutch, but it may have finally failed after clutch kit fitted. Can you confirm it was from the Bell housing area,or do you not know where it lost oil from. Not common for gearbox oil leaks.Only other thing i can suggest is a driveshaft oil seal? Damaged on refitting shafts? Garage didnt drain oil proir to removal of `box, then forget to re-fill?????
